HIGH QUALITY DIGITAL EXPERIENCE

AT LOW COST AND IN LARGE SCALE

Software has become one of the key differentiators for prospective buyers – many are more likely to choose a vehicle that is always online, connects seamlessly with the customer’s digital world and promises a premium digital experience. This leads to 300 million lines of code in a single car. But it’s not the most innovative player that will win this race, but the one that manages to combine high-quality product design with automotive-grade development and cost-effective design.

Who pays for innovation?

The digital experience helps manufacturers diversify and customers individualize their vehicles. But digitization comes at a price. With hundreds of thousands of units sold, even the smallest cost advantage in a component can make a big difference and determine the success or failure of a vehicle.

We have developed a scalable software platform for an e-motor controller that can be used in various mobility industries, including off-road vehicles and marine applications. The platform offers our customers a new way to tailor their control system to specific vehicle requirements, while providing maximum standardization and reusability.

The modular base software design is based on AUTOSAR and enabled our customer to deploy various customer-specific control functions according to automotive regulations.  The entire software stack could also be seamlessly embedded into different ECU derivatives that differ in computing power, memory, etc. This helped our customer to significantly reduce development costs and the resulting unit price

DevOps — Continuously delivering value to the user

There are many reasons to think about DevOps, including the increasing challenge of distributed teams working together and the introduction of iterative development, test and release cycles. Ultimately, it’s about the ability to deliver high quality SW products and to make design changes beyond the SOP.

We are supporting a large Tier One in developing a comprehensive DevOps platform for ADAS/AD and e-mobility SW products.

In designing the pipeline, we rely on an optimal combination of SW tools like Jenkins, Jfrog or Azure Devops and automotive programs like Enterprise Architect and Exam. In this way, we ensure safety and thus reduce the risk of failed/recalled software releases.

By migrating on-premise solutions to the Azure Cloud, we increase accessibility, create the opportunity for agile development, and improve international collaboration. As a result, our global team of engineers is also fully integrated into the customer environment.

Being future ready — our journey to software defined vehicle

Going forward, the value of a vehicle will be determined by the effectiveness of its software approach. It’s critical that vehicle OEMs and suppliers are able to leverage the highest level of system and component expertise when facing the complex challenges of software-defined vehicles. That’s why they turn to us.

And it’s also why we we partner with Wipro, a leading global IT provider, to extend the scope and value of our collective expertise. We leverage Wipro’s valuable input from the consumer electronics, cloud and automotive industries to provide complete software defined vehicle solutions. Through this approach, our future-proof framework provides a single vehicle and backend platform with a connected structure. The same app, developed with cloud-native design principles, can run both in the car and in the cloud.

By running a traffic jam pilot alongside a voice-controlled heating-climate-ventilation (HVAC) function on the same compute platform, we demonstrated mixed-criticality capability, taking into account different security requirements and real-time constraints. This approach offers deep expertise for our customer, from a single source.

We have established an agile cross-company collaboration that accelerates development through series production. Together, we are shaping the future of mobility.
