Within this newsletter, you will find the latest updates from FEV.io GmbH on ADAS, autonomous driving, and V2V communication technologies aimed at improving the behavior of automated driving functions in challenging situations.
As already highlighted in several publications related to the EU-funded Hi-Drive project, which concluded in November 2025, as well as during presentations at the ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle Technology Expo in Stuttgart (2023 and 2025) and at ELIV 2023, FEV.io GmbH has established itself as one of the leading companies in the development of ADAS features and autonomous driving functions — from stakeholder requirements and system design to vehicle integration, as well as validation in virtual environments, on test tracks, and in real-world scenarios.
The next milestone is our participation in the newly launched Pre- Large-Scale Demonstration (PreLSDemo) project, a European-funded initiative scheduled to start in the coming months. This project brings together even more partners than the Hi-Drive project and aims to develop a scalable and modular framework that embeds societal readiness as a core dimension throughout the entire lifecycle of large-scale CCAM demonstrations.

The project acknowledges that the success of CCAM innovations depends not only on technical performance but also on public acceptance, ethical alignment, and societal value creation. The framework will provide structured guidance for demonstration planners and implementers across Europe, ensuring that societal concerns, expectations, and values are systematically integrated into both the design of CCAM solutions and the environments in which they are tested.
It will be adaptable to diverse demonstration contexts — ranging from urban shared mobility and rural individual mobility to logistics corridors — offering flexibility while maintaining methodological consistency. The project is scheduled for one year. Together with 69 partners, we aim to collect, refine, and harmonize existing methodologies, test procedures, and tools for CCAM demonstration and validation.
In addition, it is essential to identify and understand the diverse challenges that may hinder successful deployment across individual mobility, shared/public transport, and freight domains. Another key objective is to assess the demonstration readiness of CCAM solutions in major mobility domains and identify suitable test sites across Europe.
The journey that began in September 2017 with L3Pilot and continued with Hi-Drive in July 2021 now moves to the next level with PreLSDemo starting in 2026.
To provide insights into FEV.io’s capabilities, this newsletter also highlights selected results from these completed projects.
Within L3Pilot, FEV.io utilized the Smart Vehicle Demonstrator (SVD) to showcase the functionality of an AD Highway Chauffeur.
Within Hi-Drive, the SVD was further enhanced to enable fully autonomous highway driving, including complex on-ramp handling — both on the highway and within on-ramp areas. Additionally, V2V communication using MCM messages was implemented to inform surrounding vehicles about trajectory information and to receive MCM messages from other vehicles, integrating this data into environmental perception during on-ramp scenarios.
We are also pleased to announce that FEV.io, together with our Hi-Drive partners (University of Applied Sciences Aachen, Hyundai, and Honda), will present detailed results on V2V data exchange for on-ramp situations at the IEEE IV Conference in Detroit from June 22–25, 2026.
FEV.io GmbH is well prepared for the next challenges in automated driving and aims to remain among the leading companies supporting customers on their journey toward autonomous vehicles.
