Introduction

As the world embraces Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and Transport as a Service (TaaS), **FEV.io** partnered with industry leaders to develop SAE Level 4 autonomous driving functionalities. This project focused on delivering a seamless and safe experience for users through remote guidance and passenger management systems, alongside robust process development to meet the highest standards.

Background

To support the development of a Level 4 autonomous vehicle platform, FEV.io was tasked with creating ASPICE-compliant processes across system, support, and management areas. This project required a strong focus on integrating various subsystems in a way that aligned with both functional safety (ISO 26262) and Safety of the Intended Functionality (SOTIF) standards, ensuring reliable and secure mobility within service ecosystems.

Approach

FEV.io’s approach was rooted in structured systems engineering, focusing on process compliance, functional safety, and a robust validation strategy. By working closely with stakeholders, FEV.io ensured that all system interfaces and technical requirements were meticulously defined and aligned with ASPICE Level 2 processes, supporting both vehicle and ecosystem needs.

Key actions

Requirements Management
Defined, modeled, and reviewed functional and technical requirements, with a particular focus on the interfaces between multiple system components.

Validation Strategy
Established and managed comprehensive test and validation requirements to ensure system robustness and reliability.

Safety Compliance
Conducted thorough reviews of functional and technical safety concepts, ensuring alignment with ISO 26262 and SOTIF standards.

Process Development
Co-designed and executed ASPICE Level 2 processes, covering critical systems and management areas such as Sys1-3, Sup8-10, and MAN3-5.

Audits and Assessments
Prepared for and conducted audits to assess and validate the adherence to ASPICE compliance requirements.

Impact

  • FEV.io’s contributions enabled the successful development of a Level 4 autonomous vehicle system that integrates seamlessly into MaaS and TaaS ecosystems.
  • By adhering to stringent ASPICE standards, FEV.io ensured that the project met industry-leading requirements for safety, reliability, and scalability.
  • This structured engineering approach has not only advanced the client’s autonomous vehicle capabilities but also established a new benchmark for ASPICE compliance in autonomous driving development, fostering greater trust and efficiency in shared mobility solutions.
